This was Jeff's very first race! After we went to the 24 hour race at Rocky Hill in October, Jeff thought he might get a team together for the Dirty Dozen in Warda. In this type of race, you have a team of 2-5 people (or you can go solo) , a team member rides a lap of the course (in this case about 10 miles) then gets back to the start/finish area and tags out the next member to ride a lap. Ideally, a member of your team is riding at all times during the 12 hour race. The team that completes the most laps in the least amount of time wins.
Jeff put together a 5 person team, but life got in the way and the 5 person team turned in to just 3, 12 hours is a lot of mountain bike riding for 3 people!
Jeff, Adrian, Kendra and I headed out to Warda on Friday in the snow! It was really cold, but Jeff and Adrian wanted to get in a practice lap. When they got back Jeff said it was "really hard, but fun". Saturday morning the sun was shining, but it was still COLD! Chris started the race for the team and Jeff and I went out to watch the start (sorry no pictures). Jeff rode the second lap for the team, and when he got back he said it was fun! Josh was the third rider.Josh and Jeff waiting for Chris to get back
By the afternoon when Jeff did his second lap it was a little warmer

After Jeff finished his second lap, he wanted to show me some of the coolest spots on the course. So we walked out to a big downhill called "Gas Pass". And we got there just in time to see Chris ride down.

Chris's picture doesn't really show how steep it is, so I took one of a random rider that shows the steepness a little better.
The team completed 11 laps for 13th place in their category, really good since 2 of the 3 were first time racers!
I think Jeff and Josh have already decided they want to get a team together for the 24 hours of Rocky Hill in October!
